The racist policy of Trump is attacking pro-Palestinians intending to remove them from the U.S. The case of Mohsen Mahdaw is one of these cases. According to NYT :
“Mohsen Mahdawi, an organizer of pro-Palestinian demonstrations last year at Columbia University, was detained by immigration officials on Monday after arriving for an appointment in Vermont that he thought was a step toward becoming a U.S. citizen, his lawyers said. Hours later, Mr. Mahdawi’s mother, older sister, and lawyers were scrambling to find him after his abrupt detention at an immigration center in Colchester, Vt. His lawyers requested a temporary restraining order to prevent federal officials from transferring him to a more conservative jurisdiction — a tactic used in the detention and attempted deportation of at least four other college demonstrators. A Vermont federal judge, William K. Sessions III, swiftly granted that request, ordering that Mr. Mahdawi, an outspoken critic of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, not be removed from the United States or transferred out of Vermont until he orders otherwise. His lawyers said that as of Monday afternoon, they had confirmed that he was still in Vermont”[i]
Massive demonstration organized by a Jewish group and others filled the lobby of Trump Tower on Thursday to denounce the immigration arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist who helped lead protests against Israel at Columbia University. The Jewish Voice for Peace protesters, who carried banners and wore red shirts reading “Jews say stop arming Israel,” chanted “Bring Mahmoud home now!”
After warning the protesters to leave the Fifth Avenue building or face arrest, police put at least 65 of them in zip ties and loaded them into a police van and city bus about an hour into the demonstration. Khalil, a permanent U.S. resident who is married to an American citizen and who hasn’t been charged with breaking any laws, was arrested outside his New York City apartment on Saturday and faces deportation. President Donald Trump has said Khalil’s arrest was the first “of many to come” and vowed on social media to deport students who he said engage in “pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity” [ii]
This vindictive policy is another form of activity by the extreme right American Bonapartist President that attacks democratic and social rights and the genocide of the Palestinians by American weapons. Not only is the Zionist monster a war criminal but also American imperialism.
This is the time to organize an American workers’ party to fight for a workers’ government and nationalization of the large corporations under workers’ control. A party that will support the struggle for Palestine red and free from the river to the sea!
There is no place in the democratic party for people who claim that their ideal is the socialist Debs.
The Democratic and the Republican parties are a monster with two heads, said Debs. Eugine Debs was the leader of the Socialist Party of America. He was a candidate in the United States presidential election about five times, receiving several hundred thousand voters each time. Debs used to travel in the United States in a train car decorated with red flags. In 1912 he received about 900,000 votes and in 1920 he received about 920,000 votes.
Debs opposed American involvement in World War I. In 1918, he was tried, convicted, and sentenced to 10 years in prison for an anti-war speech he gave. He was released three years later. He ran for the fifth term for the presidency of the United States, in 1920, from prison.
For a worker’s party fighting for a workers’ government that will nationalize under workers’ control the large corporations!
For a workers’ party that will support the struggle of the Palestinian’s socialist and free state from the river to the sea as a part of the socialist federation of the Middle East!
