Zionists are unwelcome in Athens, and not only there

The mayor of Athens, Haris Dukas, responded on Sunday with a harsh tweet to the remarks of Israel’s ambassador to Greece, Noam Katz, who accused him in an interview with the leading Greek newspaper Kathimerini of not cleaning the capital of anti-Israeli graffiti and making Israelis feel uncomfortable. “We will not accept lessons in democracy from those who kill civilians,” Ducasse replied in a tweet on ChannelX.

The interview with Katz was conducted in the context of the Israeli ship that was forced to give up docking on the island of Syros due to a pro-Palestinian demonstration, and another demonstration against the docking of an Israeli ship on the island of Rhodes about a week ago. Katz said, “The mayor of Athens is not doing enough to protect his city from organized minorities. It doesn’t clean the city (of graffiti) and makes Israeli tourists uncomfortable.” Katz cited as an example graffiti whose language was “Kill Zionists – Save Lives” and said that this was anti-Semitic incitement.

In his response on the social networkX, Dukas wrote that “Athens, the capital of a democratic country, fully respects its visitors and supports the right of its citizens to freedom of expression. As a municipal authority of the city, we have proven our active opposition to violence and racism, and we do not receive lessons in democracy from those who kill civilians and children in queues for food, from those who lead to the deaths of dozens of people in Gaza every day – from bombs, hunger and thirst. The fact that the Israeli ambassador is concentrating on graffiti, at a time when an unprecedented genocide is being carried out in Gaza, is disgusting.”

In Australia, tens of thousands marched against the Zionist monster. A report of the Times of Israel says:

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel demonstrators marched across Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge on Sunday to call for increased aid deliveries to Gaza and sanctions on Israel.

The march in Australia’s largest city occurred days after a government minister said the country would recognize a Palestinian state in the future, and as global pressure has mounted on Israel amid reports of deepening starvation in Gaza.

The march was organized by Palestine Action Group Sydney, which has accused Israel of genocide in its war against Hamas in Gaza, a charge Israel rejects. The group posted on Facebook ahead of the protest that its demands were to remove restrictions on aid into Gaza; for an “Immediate Israeli ceasefire and withdrawal” from the enclave; and for Israel to be subject to sanctions and an arms embargo” [i]
