An extensive investigation by Al-Jazeera uncovers recordings and classified documents that attest to attempts by senior officers in the regime of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to destabilize Syria under the new government. According to the report, these officers discussed plans to launch an armed operation in the Syrian coastal area with the support of Israel. A central figure in the recordings is General Suhail al-Hassan, the commander of the “Tiger Forces” known for the massacres by the previous regime’s army.
Referring to the war in Gaza, Al-Hassan was quoted as saying, “Our prayers to all of you are that this stupidity, evil and darkness called ‘flood’ (Al-Aqsa) will end. He added, “God’s curse on them, destroy them, drive them out, don’t settle for anything less, these are the sons of the unclean, you can’t trust them.”
The former head of military intelligence in Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Kamal al-Hassan, and a businessman close to the former regime, Abu Ali Khader, secretly visited Israel in early December and presented an initiative to establish a separate entity in the Syrian coastal region.
Thus, it is clear that Israel is acting to cut Syria to small weak states. While we do not like Al Sharaa and we do not give him political support, the more dangerous forces are those who are supported by Israel whose aim is to disintegrate Syria.
