The ISL’s position is not to vote for any Zionist party, in contrast to the position of Amira Hess, who is considered a radical leftist, who writes for Haaretz. Her position is that if the Zionist parties refuse to include the Arab parties, they should vote for the Democratic Party led by General Yair Golan, who has stood behind the war against the Palestinians, Lebanon and Iran. As for the Joint List, we will stand up to vote critically for it, only if they promise that they will not give any support to a Zionist government.
The Israel Hayom newspaper reveals what is happening inside the “Democrats”:
Shake-up on the left: While the Democrats (the union between Labor and Meretz) is trying to position itself as a governing alternative that sanctifies the values of democracy, a sharp warning letter sent on Monday reveals a completely opposite picture of what is happening within the party .
A central group of activists in the party sent a final warning letter before turning to the courts, to Chairman Yair Golan, to the faction members and to the management. Under the headline “Democracy in Democrats Remains in Name Only.”
The activists appealed to Article 132 of the constitution. According to the activists, as of today (six months before the election date), Yair Golan will not be able to be defined as a candidate for prime minister on behalf of the party or as its chairman, unless he “takes a democratic act as required.” “Anyone who does not conduct himself according to democratic values at home, and easily ‘skips’ the articles of his own constitution, will not be able to carry the flag of the rule of law the day after the Knesset elections,” they wrote. At the center of the arguments is criticism of the way decisions are made under Golan’s leadership. According to the activists, the party is currently run by a “one-man administrative system.”
The main failures revealed in the letter:
Concealment of information: The decisions of the management are not transparent to the members of the party.
Paralysis of institutions: The institution for the examination of petitions, which is supposed to be the internal judicial body, is defined in the letter as “paralyzed,” while the party convention is described as “neutered.”
Violation of the Rules of Procedure: The Rules of Procedure of the Conference are violated “in almost all of its articles.”
Interference in the primaries: It is claimed that there is “unfair and unequal interference” in favor of certain candidates ahead of the Knesset primaries”
This is not surprising to us, since there has never been a liberal democracy in Israel, but rather an ethno-democratic regime that systematically discriminated against the Palestinian citizens of the State of Israel. Today, there is a Bonapartist regime in Israel that discriminates against Jews as well. The Zionists demonstrating against Benito Netanyahu’s regime aspire to return Israel to the previous anti-democratic regime.
For a constituent assembly that includes the Palestinian refugees!
