Trump’s plans to put more sanctions on Iran are pie in the sky

Trump told his aides to start prepping for an extended blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

In a Monday meeting, Trump pushed to continue applying economic pressure on Iran instead of deciding to restart the war with Iran or ending the ceasefire negotiations.

He reportedly believed that maintaining the blockade was less risky than walking away or restarting the conflict.

This is another illusion of the crackpot American president as Iran and China are connected by a railway.

“On May 25, 2025, the first freight train from Xi’an, China, arrived at the Aprin dry port, Iran, marking the official launch of a direct rail link between the two countries. This new train line significantly reduces transit times from 30–40 days by sea to roughly 15 days by land cutting down the cost of transportation.

The railway is part of the broader East-West Corridor (still in the process of consolidation) which aims to link China with Iran, the Persian Gulf, Africa, and eventually Europe.

The advantages of this new infrastructure are not merely commercial. The route also circumvents US blockade. Offering Tehran and Beijing an effective way to bypass sanctions imposed by the United States.

This overland corridor helps mitigate the risks of naval blockade by American forces that hamper Iranian trade, particularly the transport of crude oil by Tehran’s so-called “ghost ships.”.

Amid stalled nuclear negotiations, the U.S. administration under Trump has reactivated its “maximum pressure” doctrine aimed at isolating the Islamic Republic’s economy and eliminating its energy exports. But this is a pipedream.

In addition to deepening Iran’s integration into the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which Tehran joined in 2019, the new infrastructure offers opportunities for Central Asian countries long interested in buying Iranian oil. On May 12, 2025,  a meeting  was held in Tehran among senior railway officials from Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey, focused on building a transcontinental rail network poised to reshape Eurasian geopolitical dynamics.

Finally, the China-Iran railway corridor backed by Moscow, emerges as a potential alternative to the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC), the Indo-Western project aimed at turning Israel into a strategic hub for commercial and energy flows in Western Asia.

Break the Imperialists blockade!

Down with Israeli and American imperialism!
