According to reports, four planes attacked runways and storage facilities in the Idlib area deep inside Syria, after a visit by a Turkish delegation to the site. The Zionist army refused to comment, and the American envoy Barak openly blamed Israel:
In a tweet, Barak confirmed that Syria was cooperating with the United States. He wrote that the “approved” attacks constituted “an unnecessary escalation that does not advance regional stability.” He praised the Ahmad al-Shara administration and wrote that Syria under his control “has not adopted an aggressive approach and has not maintained proxy forces. In fact, it has repeatedly expressed a preference for de-escalating tensions with Israel. The United States continues to believe that restraint and diplomatic engagement are the more constructive path. We encourage all sides to prioritize a rational dialogue over further military incidents.”
A senior Netanyahu official responded to the US envoy in a conversation with Fox News. He acknowledged that it was an Israeli operation but claimed that Jerusalem had shared “sensitive intelligence information” with Washington before the attack. He said the information had been passed “at the highest levels of the various agencies and bodies (of countries).” The official also sent a message to Al-Shara: “He understands that he cannot act like the previous Syrian regime. He may not have understood what was happening, or he may not have known.”
If the White House agrees why Barak condemns, and it is not at all clear why Israel blames al-Shara.
“The Israeli airstrikes on the airport came after a visit by a Turkish military delegation to rehabilitate the runway.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a statement explicitly accusing Israel: “Syria strongly condemns the Israeli airstrikes against Abu Daur airport in Idlib province. This is an unjustified aggression, a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a dangerous escalation that threatens security and stability in the region. We see the Israeli occupation as responsible for the escalation and call on the international community and the Security Council to condemn it.”
Abu Daur Airport is located about 27 kilometers east of Saraqib, near the village of Abu a-Dhur. It is characterized by its strategic location between the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, and its proximity to the Syrian desert. It is also considered one of the most prominent military bases in northern Syria.
If there is room to blame al-Shara, it is because he believes that territory that Israel has occupied will be returned and that it is possible to reach an agreement to return what Israel has occupied. A stupidity that amounts to betrayal of the Syrian people. In doing so, he joins Joseph Aoun in Lebanon.
