Strike actions in West Bank and in Israel to take place on 18 May in an unprecedented show of unity

The Third Intifada – fighting against the new wave of Zionist aggression against Al-Aqsa, against Sheikh Jarrah and against Gaza – has mobilized all sectors of the Palestinian popular masses. This great event has resulted in an unprecedented show of unity – uniting the Palestinian masses in joint actions in all parts of Historic Palestine.
Palestinian trade unions, student unions and popular organizations have called for a general strike in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the parts of historic Palestine which have been occupied since 1948 (i.e. the territory of the Israeli Apartheid State). Fatah’s youth movement declared its support for this action. Hamas has called for the Third Intifada already since some time. The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel endorsed the strike action and called on Palestinian citizens of Israel to take part. Shops and commercial stores in Ramallah have been closed already since Saturday. [1]

It is crucial to build an international solidarity movement in order to support the Palestinian Third Intifada, to defend Gaza and to defeat the Zionist enemy! Such a movement must call for a massive boycott campaign against Israel. Wherever possible, it should organize sabotage actions against arms shipments to Israel (as it has been done recently by militant unionists at the port of Livorno/Italy). [2]
We strongly welcome attempts of militants in Jordan and Lebanon to attack Israeli border posts (one was already set on fire by Jordanian demonstrators) and to cross the border to Israel in order to weaken the Israeli state.
We combine such support with a socialist perspective which includes linking the current mass struggles with other important struggles of the Arab Revolution (like the Syrian Revolution, the mass protests in Iraq and Lebanon etc.). Likewise, it is crucial to link these struggles in the Arab world with other revolutionary uprisings of the masses like those in Myanmar and in Colombia.
We call all organizations and activists who share such a perspective to contact our Liaison Committee of Convergencia Socialista and RCIT in order to work together in building a Revolutionary World Party!
