Down with the negotiations with the Zionists on the expense of the Palestinian people!
Today, 28 years ago, the Zionist armed forces together with their fascist militia allies committed one of the most horrendous acts in the series of massacres the Israeli state was responsible for since 1947-8.
The goal of the Israeli war on Lebanon of 1982 was not only to disable and eliminate the PLO, but also to uproot the Palestinian resistance to Zionist oppression. The choice of the refugees as victims of the massacre was not accidental – the State of Israel, that deported most of the Palestinian people in 1947-8 turning them into refugees, sought in 1982 to tread on the necks of these refugees as a message to all of those who demand the right of return.
It is not a coincidence that the Israeli war on the Lebanese people and the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon was carried out soon after the signing of the peace accords between Begin and Sadat. The agreement allowed the Egyptian ruling class to stand idly by while Israel unleashed its attack on Lebanon.
The role of the revolutionaries at that time was to explain beforehand that a peace agreement with Israel means war against the Palestinian people. This claim was not only validated in 1982, but also after the Oslo Accords which allowed to Zionists to corrupt the Palestinian leadership, brutally suppress the 2nd Intifada, and today divide the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
As we commemorate the massacre in the refugee camps, masters Obama, Netanyahu and Abu Mazen are negotiating a new “peace agreement.” Much as those before it, this agreement is aimed at breaking the resistance of the Palestinian people and force it into acknowledging the Zionist state, i.e. to suppress the Palestinian people’s mass support of the Palestinian refugees Right of Return and to recognize the Zionist racist Law of Return.
Abu Mazen has no popular political legitimacy among the Palestinian masses and that is why he does not dare to announce new election as he promised. Therefore, the negotiations between him and Israel are nothing but an act of treason committed by the Palestinian bourgeoisie – Israel’s accomplice. This leadership was returned by Israel into Palestine while the 1st Intifada in order to deflate the mass struggle raging at the time. When the bourgeois leaders arrived at Palestine they faced a mass struggle which went beyond the narrow capitalist-nationalist lines they were striving to impose on it. They were thus left with no other choice but to become Israel’s accomplices.
The only way to ensure the Palestinian right to self-determination in all of its land, a right which includes the Right of Return, is through the mass revolutionary struggle for a Palestinian state from the river to the sea.
However, the heroic and longstanding struggle of the Palestinian masses against Zionism, by itself and isolated from the super-exploited proletariat of the region, cannot ensure the realization of this demand to self-determination. A revolutionary struggle of the super-exploited workers of the region, spearheaded by the Palestinian masses, can ensure the realization of this demand in the form of a Palestinian workers’ state from the river to the sea within a framework of a socialist federation of the Middle East.
This is neither a dream nor a Utopia. We are currently experiencing the greatest capitalist crisis since the 1930s. This crisis presents itself also as a political crisis which eats away at the entire imperialist order established after World War 2. In many countries the working class is returning to the political center stage: France, Greece, Egypt, Iran, China and others.
In the class struggles, which will increase in intensity over the years to come, will resurface the century-old question: what should replace to rotten degenerated and corrupt imperialist order? Again and again the workers will discover that the only solution is socialist revolution that will establish workers’ states in all countries. The success of this revolution requires the leadership of revolutionary workers’ parties, based on the most politically advanced layers of the working class. The leadership these parties require will rise out of the great struggles of the years to come.
Remember those who were murdered in the Sabra and Shatila Massacre – victims of the Zionist imperialism!
Down with the traitorous negotiations with the Zionists!
For the right of all the Palestinian refugees to return!
Release all of the Palestinian political prisoners and detainees!
For the establishment of a constituent assembly of all the residents of the country including all of the Palestinian refugees!
For a Palestinian workers’ state from the river to the sea as part of a socialist federation of the Middle East!
Long live the world socialist revolution!
