The fight in Syria is now over Hama

On Tuesday, the revolution advanced to within a few kilometers of Hama. However, Intense airstrikes overnight by Russian and Assad planes drove the Syrian rebels back from the edge of Hama, a major city whose fall would be critical for the survival of the butcher, President Bashar Assad. There had been intense fighting over Jabal Zain al-Abidin, a hill 5km (3 miles) northeast of Hama.

Iran-backed Iraqi fighters who were not sent to Lebanon to help Hezbollah have moved into Syria in support of Assad. The government has started a new conscription drive in Damascus and eastern Deir al-Zor, ordering young men to join the army. Iran-backed separatist groups helped reinforce the government’s frontlines at Hama, where army units had regrouped after losing Aleppo.

Russian and government planes are bombing residential areas and medical centers in Aleppo and Idlib.

“On Tuesday, the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) advanced against government-controlled villages east of the Euphrates River, near the city of Deir ez-Zor. Syrian state-run Alikhbaria TV reported on Tuesday that clashes were taking place between SDF and government forces near the village of Tabiyet Jazira “with the intervention of US occupation jets that are targeting the frontlines in the area” [i]

Further advance of the revolution in Syria may open a new wave of the Arab revolution.

Military victory for the rebels!
