As an historical rule every revolution faces a counter revolution-the supporters of the old regime backed by hostile states. This was the case with the British revolution that faced the monarchist counter revolution, the French revolution that had to face the white terror backed by British colonialism and the Russian revolution that had to face the white terror backed by imperialist forces. This is also the case of Syria where the revolution toppled Assad the butcher
“Handout picture released by the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) shows members of the Syrian security forces entering the western city of Baniyas in Syria’s coastal Tartous province to reinforce government troops in clashes with militants loyal to deposed ruler Bashar al-Assad, on March 7, 2025
In the worst outbreak of unrest since Syria’s transitional government took power, hundreds of people have been killed or wounded in clashes between the security forces and supporters of former President Bashar al Assad
The clashes broke out Thursday in the Latakia and Tartous regions on the Mediterranean coast, areas where support among Syrian Alawites for Assad was strong and which has seen outbreaks of sectarian violence over the past three months”.[i]
“Syrian security forces battled for a second day on Friday to crush a nascent insurgency by fighters from Assad’s Alawite sect, with scores reported killed as the Islamist-led government faced the biggest challenge yet to its authority. Syrian authorities said the violence began when remnants loyal to ousted leader Assad launched a deadly and well-planned attack on their forces on Thursday. [ii]
“The first message that reached Israel from an Alawite resident of Syria was: “I am contacting you on behalf of millions of members of the Alawite minority. We need your help and know that you are our hope. Come to us, there will be millions waiting and standing by your side. We need your protection because terrorists control Damascus, and they will attack Israel”[iii]
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will not allow Syria’s new army or the insurgent group that led the ouster of former President Bashar Assad to “enter the area south of Damascus” as his government made clear Israeli forces would stay in parts of southern Syria for an indefinite period.” [iv]
Israel sees a growing threat in Islamists trying to unify Syria[v] ,and it wants to split Syria into small ethnic states under its control. It is also possible that Iran and Turkey are involved in the possible civil war.
The Zionist Minister Israel Katz hit out at Syria’s Islamist rulers on Friday as they moved to crush a nascent insurgency by fighters from ousted president Bashar al-Assad’s Alawite sect, calling the country’s new president an al-Qaeda terrorist.
“[Abu Mohammed] al-Julani switched his robe for a suit and presented a moderate face,” Katz said in a statement, using the nom de guerre of interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. “Now he’s taken off the mask and exposed his true face: A jihadist terrorist of the al-Qaeda school who is committing horrifying acts against a civilian population .”[vi]
Before the Alawites, the Zionists tried to push the Druze and the Kurds to attack the new regime.
“On December 18, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with Jens Plotner, foreign policy and security advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany. “I emphasized that the international community has a role in protecting the minorities in Syria, including the Kurdish minority that is under attacks and threats these days,” Sa’ar said. Many Kurds in Syria hope that Israel will do more than just put out statements about threats they now face in Syria. In conversations over the last two weeks, many have emphasized asking whether Israel will do something to help them.”[vii]
“That’s despite the fact that the interim government — currently led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS, the rebel militia that led the offensive that toppled the authoritarian Assad regime — has so far preached national unity. It says all Syria’s ethnic or religious minorities, like the country’s Kurds, Christians, Druze and Alawites, should be involved in running the country. and although there are different factions and opinions within Syria’s Druze community, observers say the majority reject Israel’s “protection.” [viii]
