Trump’s failure in Lebanon

Trump’s U.S. envoy Tom Barak, who is visiting southern Lebanon to oversee Hezbollah’s disarmament, has been forced to cancel his visits to Tyre and al-Khayyam, according to Lebanese reports. It was also reported that the reason for this was demonstrations by Hezbollah supporters against his arrival. Barak himself arrived at Marja’in by helicopter, where the Lebanese army was deployed, as he did not dare to drive a car.

Lebanese spokesmen said yesterday that the country’s military was expected to ask the government to “reach understandings” with Hezbollah to avoid a confrontation. Moreover, there is a possibility that the military would ask for an “extension of time” to submit the outline for the collection of weapons beyond the end of the civilian year, which was not ruled out.

The Lebanese army is confiscating weapons from the Palestinians in the refugee camps, well aware of the massacre of Sabra and Shatila.

There is a good reason for the army’s fear of a confrontation with Hezbollah, since while Hezbollah has gained experience in its war against Israel, the Lebanese army did not defend Lebanon when Israel occupied South Lebanon in 1982.

The American envoy announced at a press conference that Lebanon would present a plan on August 31 to persuade Hezbollah to disarm. After meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Barak claimed that the proposal “will not necessarily be of a military nature.”

He noted that Israel would present a “counter-proposal” after receiving the Lebanese plan. How will a program without a military character work? During his visit, Barak raised the idea of compensating Hezbollah fighters who give up their weapons. Needless to say, such an outline is a macabre joke that fits the brain of a real estate dealer serving as the president of a sinking empire.

Drive the imperialists out of the Middle East!

Down with the government of traitors!
