U.S. President Donald Trump announced yesterday that the Houthi rebels in Yemen told him that they were “surrendering” and that they would stop firing on ships in the Red Sea.
He said, “We had good news last night. They told us yesterday that they don’t want to fight anymore. We will respect that. We will stop the bombings. They surrendered, and more importantly, we will accept their word that they will not shoot at ships anymore. This is news that we have now known,” Trump said during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.”
However, a high-ranking Houthi said today that the agreement deals only with conflicts with the United States and its partners in the Red Sea. At the same time, the Israeli army announced that the Israeli Air Force intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from the east.
Despite Oman’s announcement that the launches in the Red Sea would be stopped, a Houthi spokesman told Al Jazeera this morning: “We will continue to attack Israeli ships until supplies enter Gaza.”
Thus, Trump is either a liar or stupid, and does not understand the agreements he signs. Unlike Iran, Hezbollah, and al-Sisi, who deserted the Palestinians, the Houthis continue to support the Palestinians. Thus, Israel is alone against the Houthis and Iran.
