Anna Barsky writes today in Maariv: “Twenty-eight Western countries have issued a joint statement calling for an end to the war and the beginning of real preparations for a comprehensive humanitarian solution. British Prime Minister: “Wrong decision”; Australian Foreign Minister: “Don’t go down this path”
A few hours after the Zionist political-security cabinet of war criminals approved a comprehensive plan to conquer Gaza City, strong reactions began pouring in from leaders and governments around the world, calling on Israel to reverse the move. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a strong statement against the move: “The Israeli government’s decision to further escalate the operation in Gaza is wrong, and we call on it to reconsider it immediately. With each passing day, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is getting worse, and those abducted by Hamas are being held in appalling and inhumane conditions. We need a ceasefire now.” Starmer’s statement comes against the backdrop of an earlier threat that Britain will recognize a Palestinian state if there is no change in Israeli policy. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also made his voice heard: “We have decided to suspend the export of military equipment to Israel that can be used in Gaza until further notice. I call on the Israeli government not to take further steps toward annexing the West Bank. I am still deeply concerned about the continued suffering of the civilians in Gaza. Negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of the hostages are our most important priorities.”
Norway’s foreign minister said, “If Israel takes full control of the Gaza Strip, it will be an unacceptable violation of international law.” The Dutch foreign minister added: “Israel’s plan to increase its activity in Gaza is wrong, and the humanitarian situation is catastrophic and requires immediate improvement. Israel’s decision does not contribute in any way to the release of the prisoners.” Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albers said, “We condemn Israel’s decision to occupy Gaza, which will only lead to more destruction and suffering. A permanent ceasefire, the immediate and widespread entry of aid, and the release of the hostages are urgent matters.”
Beautiful words, but meaningless. However, it will not take long and these masters will be forced to boycott Israel for fear of their own citizens. We saw this in South Africa, where they supported the late 1980s and then had to impose a boycott on the apartheid regime.
One can only rely on the struggle of the working class and the masses who do oppose the Zionist brutality that evokes Nazi Germany in the collective memory. Until Germany attacked Poland, similar masters supported Nazi Germany as an anti-communist force. The members of the International Brigades who fought against Spanish fascism were persecuted before they went to Spain and after returning from Spain. And after the war, these gentlemen, together with the Vatican, helped thousands of Nazis escape to Latin America. In Canada, which refused to accept even one Jew, the government brought in a Ukrainian division of the SS after the war.
Netanyahu’s speech to his government on the need for a total war evokes the Sportpalast speech, also known as the Total War speech, which was delivered by German Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels at the Berlin Sportpalast to a large, carefully selected audience on February 18, 1943. The speech was the first public admission by the National Socialist leadership that Germany faced serious dangers. Goebbels called for a total war and exhorted the German people to continue the war even though it would be long and arduous because—as he asserted—both Germany’s survival and the survival of Western civilization were at stake.
