The MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement is basically the Republican Party in the U.S that is allegedly led by Trump. However, there are several factions within this movement. The declining one represented by postliberal intellectuals and libertarian “tech bros” and the growing one, the “America First” anti-interventionists.
The postliberal intellectuals, associated with figures like J.D. Vance demand a return to a more Christian, values-based governance and are critical of liberalism and democracy. Their focus is on waging a culture war and using state power to restore traditional social norms.
The libertarian “tech bros” are represented by figures such as Elon Musk, who share the post-liberal opposition to liberal institutions and advocate a deregulated, free-market approach and the reduction of government power. Their focus is on freedom of capital – economic liberty to exploit the workers.
However, a significant split is emerging between traditional interventionists and the “America First” anti-interventionists. This isolationist-nationalist stream is represented by figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene, whom Trump just kicked out, and Steve Bannon. This group seeks to get away from “forever wars” and foreign interventions, including questioning the long-standing support for Israel.
Against them is the primacy faction, which includes former Trump administration officials like Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, and Nikki Haley, who argue that the U.S. must maintain its role as a global police and military power, advocating for intense engagement in Europe and the Middle East.
In addition, the republican party suffers another central contradiction between the plebian basis that views Big Business and Silicon Valley as enemies, and the leadership of the party is committed to the large corporations. While we oppose all these factions as well as the Democratic Party, the growing influence of the anti-interventionists may weaken Israel.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia congresswoman, is a rising star in the Republican Party. Her decision to quit the congress follows a public fallout with Trump, who branded her “a traitor” and said he would endorse her opponent in next year’s election.
For months, Greene, who won great support among the republicans for her Protect Children’s Innocence Act, which supposedly ends the practice of so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors. Has openly criticized the Trump administration’s refusal to release files related to the investigation into the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, as well as several of Trump’s policies of intervention in other countries.
On July 29, 2025, she was the first Republican in Congress to use the term genocide to describe the horrible situation in Gaza. But others in the MAGA movement have also expressed growing concern about Israel.
“It’s the most truthful and easiest thing to say that Oct. 7 in Israel was horrific and all hostages must be returned, but so is the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza,” Ms. Greene said in a social media post on Monday evening.” [i]
We should not confuse her cynical position on Gaza with an honest sympathy for the Palestinians. Ms. Greene, in the past, has attacked Democrats who have criticized Israel as antisemitic and sympathetic to terrorists. However, she has realized that many supporters of the plebeian basis of the Republican Party do not want to invest billions of dollars in Israel and want to invest this money in the U.S and in their pockets. The position of this faction of the Republican Party can be helpful in our propaganda, as long as we do not support the demagogues.
Down with MAGA!
Down with the Republican and the democratic parties – the hydra with two heads!
For the Independent democratic workers party in the U.S. loyal to the international working class!
