Has Trump decided to end the war on Iran?

There are growing signs that Trump is beginning to realize that he was dragged into war by Netanyahu’s promises that the Iranian regime could be toppled was a false hope, and that he must make do with assassinating senior officials, destroying economic and military infrastructure, damaging hospitals, and murdering civilians. Of course, he will declare that the United States has won the most just war in the murderous wars of imperialism. Netanyahu will be left with the option of continuing to fight alone or declaring victory over Iran while the regime survives.

A number of reasons join together for the imperialist failure. First, the prices of gas and oil jumped upwards, and the price of a barrel of oil is already $115 instead of the $60 before the outbreak of the war. Second, the United States has eliminated its stockpile of smart missiles, and it is now facing a strong China. Third, the false hopes that the masses of the Iranian people would rise up against the regime were dashed hopes. Fourth, the Iranian regime is stable and immune despite the enormous imperialist attack. In fact, this murderous war contributes to the deepening of the decline of US imperialism.

Look at what Israel Hayom a rightwing Zionist newspaper, that until now was a passionate supporter of the war writes:

Eight days after the outbreak of the war, the interim balance is clearly tilted to Iran’s detriment in all areas. The IDF and the US military have also expanded their attacks on refineries and oil reserves in Iran and continue to achieve the military objectives set.

At the same time, the Iranian regime is still on its feet. The IRGC forces continue to launch missiles and threaten to introduce more advanced models. At the same time, Hezbollah – the only proxy arm to join the war – is succeeding in exacting a price from Israel and forcing it to pay more attention to the Lebanese arena.”[i]

“This is not a war for regime change, but the regime will change,” U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hesseth said last week. The refusal to declare regime change an official goal of the war is indicative of the desires in Washington and Jerusalem about it. It stems mainly from the difficulty of assessing the chances of achieving this goal in a tolerable time and cost, and from the desire to avoid a burdensome polemic in light of the disappointments, which did not satisfy this pretension.”[ii]

“The Iranian regime has demonstrated patience and high resilience over the years of its existence. Regarding the legacy of the long war he waged with Iraq, Ali Khamenei said: “The eight years of sacred defense were the guarantee of the security of the state and the honor of the nation… It was a lesson to the world that no one could attack Iran without paying a heavy price.

Assessing the situation of a regime is not an easy challenge in any arena, and all the more so with regard to the Iranian regime, whose strategic patience and steadfastness have become fundamental characteristics of it. Hence the caution that is required on the part of those who deal with it.

Washington and Jerusalem rightly prefer to leave this as a declared aspiration and actually carry out the steps to change the Iranian state. In an orderly and systematic process, it is stripped not only of its military capabilities – missiles, nuclear, navy, air capabilities, etc., but also of its infrastructure and economic assets.”[iii]

On the other hand, Iran has now decided to focus not only on American interests, but also on a large-scale attack on Israel, and the frequency of missile strikes is increasing.

It is written about the situation in the Jewish Torah: “Do not think that putting on armor” is the same as “taking it off“, which means that one who goes to war should not praise himself  as if his victory is assured.
