On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, a Chinese tanker passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite a U.S. blockade on the waterway. The Rich Starry is the first ship to make it through the strait and exit to the Gulf since the blockade began, according to data from Marine Traffic. The ship is carrying 250,000 barrels of oil.
It is too early to be sure that Chinese tankers will pass regularly through the Strait of Hormuz but it is possible that US imperialism will allow Chinese ships to pass through the strait to avoid Chinese strong reaction against the US. If this will be Trump’s policy the blockade will be a tiger of paper. On the other hand it is possible that Trump will try to put pressure on China so that China will put pressure on Iran to agree to Trump’s conditions.
Trump has reportedly set out two new conditions before restarting negotiations with Iran in Pakistan. Trump has said new rounds of negotiations with Tehran could resume within two days, claiming that Washington had been called “by the right people, the appropriate people, and they want to work a deal.”
But before the new round of talks could begin, Trump demands full and unrestricted reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Israel Hayom reported, citing diplomatic sources.
According to the Israeli media report, another American term for talks is that Iran’s delegation must have full authority from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to finalize any agreement.
It is not a secret that following the collapse of peace talks in Pakistan, Iran’s security council is divided, with some figures labeling the ceasefire deal an “undeniable” win, while others rejected U.S. terms. Some factions in Iran are willing to capitulate for economic relief, while hardliners, often supported by factions such as the Paydari Party, demand to continue military, nuclear, and regional support for Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen who are officially called Ansar Allah and the pro Iran militias in Iraq.
The interest of the international working class and the oppressed is to break Trump’s blockade as a defeat for American imperialism that will ignite sharper class struggle against the exploitation and oppression by imperialist robbers and mass killers and their servants.
