While the Zionist monster has occuping all of southern Lebanon and is even bombing Beirut and uprooted about a million Lebanese from their homes, the camp of the Lebanese Prime Minister and the President, who seek to subordinate Lebanon to Israel and the United States, is negotiating with Israel and is ready to cooperate with Israel to eliminate Hezbollah, which in the current situation is defending Lebanon’s independence and fighting against the Zionist imperialism of the settler colonialists. Hezbollah rightly claims that the talks between Israel and Lebanon, which are being held in Washington without a ceasefire, ignore the Zionist occupation.
On Saturday, Hezbollah supporters demonstrated in Beirut against direct negotiations with Israel. The talks with Israel could lead to civil war between the camp that supports imperialist involvement in the baseless hope of returning Lebanon to the situation it was in years ago, when it was compared to the Switzerland of the Middle East. In this camp, portions of the Lebanese population look to the U.S. to help to smash Hezbollah, particularly among Sunni (51%) and Christian (45%) populations, while Hezbollah is supported by the Shiite community that constitute roughly one third of the total population, with high concentrations that used to be in Southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Due to the lack of an official census since 1932, numbers are based on estimates, including data from Refworld and the World Population Review that may be bias and the Shiite may be larger population.
Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah told a news conference in Beirut on Wednesday. “The picture in Washington does not reflect Lebanon’s identity and the people’s choices. The meeting marks the entry into a path where the country is exposed to continuous external pressure.”
Lebanon’s Culture Minister Rassan Salameh, who supports US-sponsored negotiations with Israel, said in an interview with Qatari Al Arabi that any progress depends first and foremost on Lebanon’s internal capacity to create a broad national consensus. However, he also acknowledged that such negotiations put Lebanon in a process where every step could turn into a clash between the two camps.
Despite the negotiations under Trump’s pressure, Israel attacked Tyre this week.
The government of Lebanon has entered a very ugly road. The same as the Palestinian Authority collaborating with the Zionist monster to repress those who are ready to fight against the Zionist state.
It will be a mistake to characterize Hezbollah as anti-imperialist, we saw its role in its intervention in Syria of Assad where Hezbollah helped Assad to try and kill the revolution. However, a Hezbollah victory in the war against the US/Zionist imperialism would be the desirable outcome, but without giving it any political support.
