The ceasefire in Lebanon

During Netanyahu’s recent visit to the White House, Netanyahu persuaded Trump to attack Iran together on patently false grounds. But now Trump is feeding Netanyahu bitterness.

The Zionist monster that wanted to continue the destruction of Lebanon was forced under pressure from Trump to agree to a ceasefire that went into effect last night. Netanyahu will try  to  convince the Israeli public, and especially the residents of the north, most of whom voted for the Likud that they were beaten by Hezbollah,  that the goals of the war have been achieved, while Hezbollah exists and has considerable firepower.

The Zionist army of murderers, which destroyed the bridges between southern Lebanon and the more northern part of Lebanon and cut off southern Lebanon from the rest of Lebanon while expelling a million displaced persons, remained in occupied southern Lebanon. From the outset, the mediator of the cessation of hostilities against Iran said that the ceasefire agreement included Lebanon. Israel objected and Trump supported its position. Iran has announced that a ceasefire in Lebanon is a condition for continuing the talks, and Trump’s need to stop the war against Iran caused him to change his position and force Israel to cease fire in Lebanon.

To anyone who follows the results of the war, all the goals declared by Trump and Netanyahu were not achieved.

The regime in Iran has not been overthrown, the seizure of the enriched material has failed, the production of missiles and launchers continues, and Hezbollah continues to maintain even considerable firepower.

The pressure on Trump, who was dragged after Netanyahu into war, is the rise in prices due to the closure of Hormez, the opposition of the American people, including within the Republican Party itself, to a hopeless war.

Trump’s decision last night follows the one he announced last week regarding the Iranian front. In both cases, Trump forced   the moves on Netanyahu, who  very much wanted a lifeline  to continue the fighting on both fronts. In a telephone consultation with Cabinet ministers, Netanyahu said last night that accepting the ceasefire in Lebanon was a gesture to Trump, as part of Israel’s effort to coordinate positions with the United States.  In reality, it is clear that Israel is a protectorate of the United States, which determines when Israel is allowed to attack and when to stop wars.

The cease-fire in Iran and Lebanon serves the Iranian regime and Hezbollah, which opposes the direct meeting of the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors in the United States as a surrender led by  the president and prime minister in Beirut. What’s more, the president and prime minister of Lebanon agree to a pause, while Israel has occupied all of southern Lebanon and will not easily give up this occupation, unless Trump imposes it on it.

The failure of Trump and Netanyahu weakens Netanyahu. According to polls, Netanyahu would have lost at least two seats if the elections were held today, his bloc would have 52 seats, while the Zionist opposition would have 58 seats, and together with Ra’am and Chadash, which each had 5 seats, the opposition would have 68 seats.

At the same time, part of the Iranian leadership  is ready for an agreement that will include five years of a freeze on uranium enrichment in its territory. The United States is demanding 20 years, but  a compromise is possible. Giving up Iran’s nuclear armament guarantees more attacks by Israel in the future. The Americans may demand the enforcement of a strict external monitoring mechanism. Regarding the 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to a high level of 60%, there is no full agreement at this time, although Trump claimed last night that the problem was about to be resolved. It seems that the United States will insist on removing them from Iranian soil, and that the regime will try to delay the process as much as possible, if it agrees, while weakening Iran, which has  major economic benefits awaiting it. The Revolutionary Guards oppose such a move, and this leads to conflict within the Iranian leadership.

First, the Iranian funds will be frozen in accounts frozen in banks in Qatar. This will inject $6 billion into the regime’s coffers. Other benefits will be provided with the lifting of sanctions on oil exports and with a U.S. permit for deals to rebuild the civilian infrastructure bombed during the war. These are moves worth tens of billions of dollars, and Trump will seek to create a semblance of compensation for them in terms of arrangements related to the marketing of oil from the Gulf. Iran insists on its right to produce missiles, and the United States is showing only a limited interest. The question is also Iran’s support for various organizations in the region, such as Hezbollah, the Houthis, and the pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, is not essential  in Trump’s eyes, but it is a blow to Israel.

The ISL’s position is that Iran has in fact won the war and only if Hadash declares that it will not support the Zionist opposition in order to form a government, can it be voted for by a very critical vote.

The victory of Iran will have implications and more people will actively oppose  imperialist wars.

During the war, Hadash demonstrated  with pacifist positions that were in fact support for the stronger side, which is imperialism.
