The role of the PMP in a possible renewal of the imperialist war against Iran

It is very hard to predicts what Trump will do as he speaks from both sides of his mouth.

On one side of his mouth Trump says 20-year nuclear program suspension by Iran would be enough in what appears a shift in position away from a demand for a total end to it. Previously he has called on Iran to permanently cease enriching uranium – a stage in making a weapon – and to be prevented from ever acquiring nuclear weapons.

On the other side of his mouth, he also said his patience with Iran was running out, with no sign of a breakthrough in talks.

Israel sees the second statement as Trump is ready to strike Iran together with Israel and the US and Israel’s armies are preparing to strike Iran if Trump will order it. Iran is ready to a new round of war and begins to mobilize the civil population and train them to use weapons.

Trump calls Iran’s response to the US proposal to end the war ‘totally unacceptable’. Trump says the Iran ceasefire is on ‘massive life support’.

However, both sides appear to be far apart, having rejected each other’s most recent proposals to end the war. Iranian media said Tehran’s proposal had included an immediate end to the war on all fronts. Iran’s apparent reference is  to Israeli attacks against its Shia ally Hezbollah in Lebanon – a halt to the naval blockade of Iranian ports and guarantees of no further attacks on Iran.

As I wrote some time ago, this is the situation when the Iranian regime needs to mobilize and armed the working class and it is the time for the working class to demand their right to choose their military commanders. This is the same policy prescribed by Trotsky in the US on the eve of the war of the USA against Germany and Japan known as the Proletarian Military Policy. This is the application of our position military victory for Iran as a semi colony fighting imperialism without giving it political support.

The origin of this policy is the Bolshevik policy during the Kornilov mobilizing the Kozaks to overthrow the popular front government led by Kerensky where Lenin policy was to side with the forces of Kerensky against the planned military coup without giving the government any political support and as soon as Kornilov was defeated the armed workers made the October revolution.

As from last Friday, reports indicate clearly that Iran is conducting an intense, multi-generational mobilization of its population in response to an ongoing war with the United States and Israel that began on February 28, 2026. This mobilization includes calling for a “long war” against the “Zionist-American aggression”.

Reports surfacing in March 2026 suggested Iran was mobilizing up to one million troops, including volunteers for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij paramilitary force. Reports also indicated an initiative to recruit middle-school-aged youth (as young as 12) for paramilitary training and “homeland defense” duties.

The regime has used state-sponsored rallies to project unity and strengthen its position, depicting protesters from late 2025 as foreign agents to rally support.

“Resistance Axis” Mobilization: Iranian-backed militias, including the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Iraq, have declared their readiness to fight under the banner of the Iranian leadership to the “last drop of blood”.

The conflict has involved significant military strikes on both sides, with the U.S. deploying 50,000 troops to the region in March 2026. As of mid-May 2026, both sides are reportedly preparing for a potential renewal of major fighting after temporary ceasefires.

Revolutionary victory for Iran!

Revolutionary defeat for the US and the Zionist monster!

For the call for the PMP now!

No political support for the regime!
