Trump announced on Friday night that an agreement had been reached that would lead to the disarming of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip, as part of what he called a significant step on the way to ending the fighting. In a post he posted on the social network TRUTH, he wrote that the agreement would be implemented in stages, and that the Israeli forces would gradually withdraw as the disarmament process was completed. He also wrote that an international stabilization force, along with a new Palestinian police force, will be given responsibility for security in the Gaza Strip. Gaza will be handed over to the administration of a new Palestinian government, which, he said, would operate in cooperation with the Peace Council.
Israel said that “there will be no Israeli withdrawal from the Yellow Line before Hamas disarms and demilitarizes the Gaza Strip.” He said, “Israel demands the complete disarmament of Hamas, including the withdrawal of its weapons from Gaza and the full demilitarization of the Gaza Strip as a precondition for any process.”
On the other hand, a Hamas source told Reuters that the “draft agreement” stipulates that heavy weapons will be stored and stored only under the control of the Palestinian leadership, and that it will not be possible to transfer the weapons to Israel. “We will not take any action regarding disarmament before Israel withdraws from Gaza,” Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’s negotiating team, told Al Jazeera. This has been Hamas’ position for many weeks.
Considering the substantial gaps in the understanding of the agreement, it is highly doubtful that it will be implemented.
