Martin Boudreaux, who claims to be a philosopher, is a lecturer at the University of Ghent in Belgium.
He is known for his views on Israel and the Middle East, which, in essence, are the denial of the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza and the riots in the West Bank. He writes about himself:
“I’m not Jewish. I was raised Catholic in Belgium. I became a die-hard atheist at around twelve. I’m a Zionist.”
He is known as an Islamophobic racist who has been in favor of restricting Muslim immigration to France for about a decade. He has been widely scorned by his intellectual colleagues.
“In recent years, Bodri has emerged as one of the few voices in European academia toward what he calls the “anti-Israel consensus.” He claims that there is a “spiral of silence” in universities and an atmosphere of silencing and boycotting those who do not align themselves with the anti-Zionist narrative or the allegations of genocide in Gaza. This, too, he says, above the pile of garbage he stands on, that Europe is paying a price for ignoring the Jewish communities. In the wake of the riots in France, he issued a stern warning and attacked Macron’s policy: “All you have done is strengthen the monster. The hostile attitude toward Israel since October 7 is now boomerang-ing European society. Soon we will all know what it feels like to be a Jew. In France, we already know,” Boudré wrote. He said it was “the punishment we deserve for abandoning the Jews, ignoring their warnings, turning against them, and even marching alongside their oppressors.” He attacked the pro-Palestinian protest movement in Europe and French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state, which he described as “a reward for the massacre of Hamas on October 7.”
Boudrey went on to claim that for three years demonstrators in Europe “marched with Palestinian flags, wore keffiyehs and shouted, ‘from the river to the sea,’ while Israel was boycotted and Zionism was portrayed in a negative light.” Did you think that if you feed the crocodile enough Jewish meat, it will eventually satiate?” he asked, adding, “All you did was strengthen the monster and increase its appetite.” He concluded his remarks with the sentence: “It never ends with the Jews.”
The remarks were published against the backdrop of the mass struggle in France. Demonstrations against the cost of living and the deterioration of public services. Hundreds of thousands took part in the protests, and thousands of people were arrested. On the sidelines of the demonstrations, a minority of looters joined in Paris, Marseille, Lyon and other cities, and shops were looted.
A synagogue in Paris was also damaged, and Jewish-owned businesses in Marseille were damaged. However, the Jewish Community Protection Service in France stressed that at this stage there is no evidence to prove that the stores were attacked precisely because of the identity of their owners.
