Trump is seeking the service of Kurd armed militias instead of American troops to fight the Iranian regime

White House spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt confirmed in an official statement that “President Trump has spoken with many regional partners,” but refrained from explicitly confirming the operational objectives of these talks. The initial report of the conversation with some Kurd leaders was published on the Axios website. Administration officials clarified that Trump has not yet made a final decision on the scope of the support, which includes questions about the supply of weapons, training, or intelligence assistance to groups opposed to the regime.

At the same time as announcing the start of the combined attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, Trump called on the Iranian people to rise up and “take over your government,” while promising that “America backs you with overwhelming force.” However, only a small minority celebrated the murder of Khamanei and his family and supported this dirty war. The shift to discussions of support for armed groups marks a change compared to a call for a popular uprising alone, which was an illusion.

Trump, who knows how much the American people oppose the wars and surely knows that he was elected as a president because he promised an end to American wars, and the experience in Iraq and Afghanistan is etched in their recognition, is trying to gain support for the war through the administration’s new direction. On social media, Trump twice posted an op-ed from the Washington Post about the “Trump Doctrine.” The article said that “there is no need for an American invasion force” and that “the Iranian people are the boots on the ground.” Currently, Washington is carefully examining the implications of supporting rebel groups, the monarchists and some Kurds who have different interests and goals, in an attempt to bring support for the tainted war without the direct involvement of American soldiers in ground battles.

As of March 3, 2026, Kurdish involvement in a potential U.S.-led war against Iran is marked by strategic preparation among Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, while official Kurdish regional governments remain more cautious due to the risk of Iranian retaliation. In early 2026, as several Kurdish factions inside and outside Iran signaled readiness to oppose the Tehran regime, and to serve Israel and American imperialism by that.

On February 22, 2026, five Iranian Kurdish opposition groups announced a new political-military alliance—the Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan.

Following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February 2026, these groups claimed their forces were “deep inside Iran” and along border regions, ready to attack the Iranian regime as the situation developed

Reports from March 2, 2026, from the US indicate that Trump held phone calls with Kurdish leaders to discuss the ongoing war with Iran and potential next steps. The U.S. views these forces as strategically significant due to their thousands of soldiers and control over border areas. At the same time Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq due to its proximity to Iran is not ready to act as American peons.

The KRG interior ministry has explicitly rejected allowing the region to be used as a “launchpad” or venue for attacks against neighboring countries, including Iran. Iranian-backed militias have recently targeted U.S. bases in Erbil which is a Kurdish territory in Iraq. KRG leaders are wary of economic retaliation, such as the closure of border crossings, and the risk of the region becoming a primary battlefield between the U.S-Israel. and Iran.

In Syria, since early 2026, the SDF has been in discussions to integrate into the Syrian state and be part of the Syrian army following a January agreement. The Kurds in Syria feel and for good reason that the USA has betrayed them. In spite of the betrayal as of March 3, 2026, Kurdish involvement in a potential U.S.-led war against Iran is marked by strategic preparation among some Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, while official Kurdish regional governments remain more cautious due to the risk of Iranian retaliation.

These Kurds who are ready to serve American and Israel imperialists have learned nothing from their own history. By serving the imperialists they will never get a free Kurdistan. Only the Arab victorious revolution will grant the Kurds a real state in the frame of the socialist federation of the Middle East.

For the anti imperialist united front!

Revolutionary defeat for the Zionist state and American imperialism!

Revolutionary defense of Iran!
