Iranians who spoke to media outlets around the world are expressing cautious optimism, saying the protests are more daring. According to an Iranian who spoke to Haaretz, many of them expect help from Israel or the United States. “People are speaking out loud against the regime,” one citizen told the BBC. Many others, on the other hand, find it hard to believe that the demonstrations will lead to positive change, and indeed the replacement of the ayatollah regime with the rule of the Iranian prince and the control of the United States and Israel does not bode well. However, it is unlikely that this will happen and the protest will die out like its predecessors, unless the working class will take the lead.
In the meantime, supporters of the monarchy and pro-Zionists are trying with all their might to ignite a civil war that will lead to severe repression that will give Israel and the United States an excuse to intervene militarily.
“Farshed, an Iranian citizen who spoke to the Guardian, believes that the protest alone will not change anything and that an American strike is necessary to create change. He said the ideal scenario would be for the protests to escalate while the United States and other countries attack senior regime officials, which would allow the overthrow of the regime. Ashkan, also a resident of Tehran, said he believed that American intervention would make it possible to topple the government by the end of the month. “I am sure that by the end of January the United States will intervene, the Islamic Republic will fall, Pahlavi will come and everything will be perfect,” he said[i]
There is no doubt that Israel is involved in violence against the regime, and this can be confirmed by the words of Minister Amichai Eliyahu, who was interviewed by Army Radio on November 5, and where he exposed Israel’s activity in Iran during Operation Am Kalvi, and also what is being done now, “ensures that at this moment there are people of ours who are operating there” said Minister Eliyahu
He also referred to the internal Iranian situation and possible Israeli involvement: “Are they now acting directly to overthrow the regime? Nope. Are we working to ensure that Iran cannot threaten us in all other respects? Yes”
We do not support the regime and the demonstrations are justified, but the violent supporters of the Shah are the most dangerous side in terms of the global working class. Western imperialism and Israel are interested in replacing the regime with monarchical rule. A government that will serve the United States and Israel, and there is no place to support it.
The only good solution is a democratic revolution led by the working class and the support of the peasants, who will continue it into a workers’ revolution.
We must demand the lifting of the economic sanctions on Iran, which harm the masses of Iran!
For a revolutionary Constituent Assembly!
For a revolutionary struggle under the leadership of the working class!
