Moscow that for years had close relations with Israel, has taken a distance from Israel during the war of Israel on Gaza and the backing by the US. The influence of the Eastern imperialists China and Russia is growing in the region while the influence of American imperialism is declining. The state-run TASS news agency reported, citing Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov:
“We invited all Palestinian representatives — all political forces that have their positions in different countries, including Syria, Lebanon and other countries in the region,” said Bogdanov, who is President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for the Middle East.They include Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, alongside representatives of Fatah and the broader Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)” [1]
Close to 29,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed by the Zionist’s genocide offensive on Gaza, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run territory. Putin has called for a ceasefire and Moscow has repeatedly criticized Israel’s conduct in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attack.
PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said on Sunday:
“Russia has invited all Palestinian factions who will be meeting on the twenty-sixth of this month in Moscow. We will see if Hamas is ready to come to the ground with us,” Shtayyeh told the Munich Security Conference.We are ready to engage. If Hamas is not then that’s a different story. We need Palestinian unity,” he said, adding that to be part of that unity Hamas needed to meet certain prerequisites. In order for Hamas to be a member of the PLO there has to be prerequisites that Hamas has to accept — the political platform of the PLO, an understanding on the issue of resistance and we are calling for popular resistance and nothing else,” he said” [2]
The platform of the PA is recognition of Israel in the borders of 1967 and policing the Palestinians for the security of Israel.
We do not know yet what will be the outcome of this meeting but we warn of a betrayal of the Palestinians national liberation by such an accord similar to Oslo betrayal that ended the popular uprising. What the PA calls popular resistance is simply small demonstrations that can be attacked by the PLO police.
The liberation of the Palestinians will be part of the Arab revolution that will begin with democratic and partial demands and to win will continue to a socialist revolution by the working class and its allies. This is the strategy of the permanent revolution.
