Hadash – The Stalinist Front Takes Off Its Mask and The Ugly Zionist Face Emerges

Today, we find on the Hadash website the position as a patriot of the imperialist Zionist apartheid state:

Their article on the website stated:(In Hebrew)

“The US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, met in recent days with senior ultra-Orthodox politicians and pressured them not to dismantle the right-wing government, Channel 13 News reported this week (June 9). According to the report, in Ambassador Huckabee’s meeting with Minister Meir Frosh, a firm message was conveyed from Washington – “No to the dismantling of the government.” The ambassador also met with senior rabbis, including Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch, the leader of the Lithuanian ultra-Orthodox community, and conveyed similar messages to them.

While the government is preparing for the possibility of dissolving the Knesset in the wake of the coalition crisis over the conscription law, the US ambassador stressed the importance of stabilizing the government in his talks, and even claimed that dissolving the Knesset and holding elections at this time was a mistake. According to Channel 13 News, Huckabee’s reasoning includes: “The stability of the government is important for dealing with the Iranian issue,” and “Washington will have a hard time backing Israel during an election period.” According to the report, those close to Prime Minister Netanyahu are aware of Huckabee’s involvement and are even pleased with it. The ambassador himself said in response to the news: “The ambassador met with a wide range of Israeli officials. The content of the conversations remains private.”

The day after the publication, Huckabee, an evangelical right-wing and ardent supporter of the settlements, declared that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state was not part of the goals of American policy in the Middle East. He even defied: “Let another Muslim country provide them with territory.”

A new record of humiliation: Unfortunately, deep American interference in Israel’s internal affairs is not a new phenomenon. In many areas, especially in foreign and defense policy, Israel has been subject to dictates from Washington since at least the 1960s. However, it seems that such gross and blatant interference in Israeli politics is a new height of humiliation. Trump enjoys seeing his corrupt, capitalist, and racist counterpart as Israel’s prime minister, and has sent the official representative of the US administration to guard the protégé – while trampling on the semblance of Israeli sovereignty.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid tried to obscure the shameful picture by further bowing down to the Americans: “Since I have no doubt that Ambassador Huckabee respects Israel’s independence and democracy, I hope and believe that the publication that he is interfering in Israel’s internal politics and trying to help Netanyahu vis-à-vis the ultra-Orthodox in the crisis of the Evasion Law cannot be true. Israel is not a protectorate.”

Lapid is wrong. Huckabee and Trump do not respect Israel’s independence and its “democracy,” and Israel is indeed a protectorate. An occupying state in a bloody and ongoing conflict with the space in which it is rooted necessarily depends on weapons and superpower sponsorship, and this protection comes with a price. As in other areas, Trump excels mainly in removing the remnants of shame that have so far covered up the actions of the American superpower. His ambassador hints at Israeli politicians: Uncle Sam prefers Netanyahu to be in power – and you shouldn’t upset him.

The False Patriotism of the Right

It is precisely the Netanyahu government, which has national sovereignty at its throat, that relies on foreign intervention to save it. This is how the false patriotism of the right, which in effect obeys Washington’s interests, has been exposed. In order to achieve true independence and free itself from American imperialism, Israel must abandon the path of the right: it must end the occupation and the conflict with the Arab and Muslim world, integrate into the region, and live peacefully alongside the neighboring nations. There is no democracy with occupation, and in the case of Israel, there is no national sovereignty without a just peace” [i]

Thus, Hadash is openly for the independence and the national sovereignty of the Israeli state. They may think that this is an anti-imperialist position, while in reality, it is a pro-settler colonialist imperialist state. In Egypt, the Stalinist party supported the coup of Al Sisi. In Syria, the butcher Assad. In Israel they brought the weapons from Stalin to commit the Nakba and now they support Israel.

In fact, they state their support for Iran without nuclear weapons in their election platform explicitly:

“To establish a new regional system in the Middle East, based on equality and mutually beneficial cooperation; To thwart the aggressive plans of the United States in the region, including the planned war against Iran; To cancel the strategic agreement between Israel and the United States and to adopt an independent Israeli foreign policy; To thwart the American plan, coordinated with Israel, to establish strategic military axes in the Middle East. To disarm the Middle East of nuclear weapons and all weapons of mass destruction, to dismantle the nuclear weapons in Israel, and to prevent nuclear armament by Iran or any other country in the region”
