The Financial Times reports that a week and a half ago, the Zionist army prepared for a multi-day air campaign against Iran, which was intended to be larger than the one in February. The plan included damaging civilian infrastructure – such as power plants – alongside nuclear facilities. An attack intended to keep Netanyahu in power. However, Trump stopped the attack because of its impact on the midterm elections in the United States in November.
According to an Israeli source, the attack was discussed in a secret meeting between Minister of War Pete Hegseth, with Netanyahu, and Zionist Minister of Slaughter Yisrael Katz, which took place in Israel this week. According to the source, the attack was presented with an updated list of targets in Iran, based on new intelligence. The list included civilian infrastructure that was not attacked earlier this year. The Pentagon did not respond to a request for comment. Another source estimated that the move was intended to pressure Iran as part of negotiations and that the final decision on whether to launch a renewed attack rested with the US president. Another source said that it was a “reasonable scenario” that Israel and the United States would resume the attacks in the coming weeks. According to him, “Either there will be an agreement, or there will be an attack.”
Yesterday, a frustrated Netanyahu said that Iran wants to influence the elections and wants him to lose them. When asked in an interview with Galei Israel whether Israel is “on its way to a surprise attack,” he replied, “We are preparing for this possibility. There is intelligence, unequivocally, that we heard from the head of Military Intelligence, we heard from the Mossad, the chief of staff talked about it, and the defense minister and I also talked about it.” He[i] added, “This is the truth; it’s not a spin. These are intelligence reports that Iran and its proxies want to try to influence the elections.”
Shortly afterward, Katz threatened Hezbollah not to join an Iranian attack against Israel. “The army is prepared to maneuver toward additional areas in the areas of Nabatia and the Litani, with the area to be occupied evacuated from its residents and treated in the same way, and will become permanently part of Israel’s security zone in Lebanon,” he wrote.
Trump also hinted at a possible resumption of attacks in Iran. On Sunday, he announced his support for Netanyahu, saying it was “only a matter of time” for Tehran to try to harm Israel and the United States. “If Israel had the wrong leader, anyone other than Bibi, the U.S. would have to do the job itself, and I don’t want to do that.” Netanyahu thanked Trump in a post on NetworkX, adding, “Together we will complete the mission.”
In the past, Israel used to pretend that it was embarking on defensive wars, but these years it is acting aggressively without a mask and exposing itself in all its ugliness for the sake of the cause of Greater Israel from the Tigris to the Nile, however it will probably come to its end rather than achieving its territorial plan.
